We again have three inspiring speakers for our Autumn Talks, 2025
Revd Canon Professor William Whyte is a Fellow of St John’s College, Oxford and an architectural historian, specialising in churches and universities. He will give us one of his lively and fascinating talks – this time on St Mary’s – its 800 year old history and other local buildings of architectural and historical interest – “St Mary’s – Kidlington’s greatest treasure…. “. This will be at 6pm on Saturday 4th October.
Our second event celebrated the 250th anniversary of the birth of John Constable – James Hamilton, author of the acclaimed biography “Constable – A Portrait” presented us with the passionate correspondence between John and Maria Constable, assisted by Katharine Eustace and Shirley Steventon, with Philip Towler on the organ.
Our third speaker/musician was Oli Steadman. Oli is a British-South African multi-instrumentalist, and one of the founding members of the indie-folk band Stornoway. He is also a volunteer with many nature conservation trusts. This was his first solo performance and he shared fascinating stories about his music.
